I have been asked a couple of times if the Council is taking part in Clean Up Australia Day on 7th March. The answer is no, because we will be participating in and supporting the Great Northern Clean Up on 11 and 12 September, rather than in March when the national campaign is held.

The Great Northern Clean Up is held at a time more suited to the tropics when it is drier, cooler and generally safer without the worry of flooded creeks and drains and the inability to access some waterways. It also helps to clean up before the wet season.

Gives you 6 months to think about where you might put your efforts for this year's clean up.
