Works are on schedule for this new centre - a partnership between Council, the State government and Tennis Queensland - to be finished in late July ready for a month of events in September which will include the Davis Cup tie between Australia and New Zealand.

Located in North Cairns, adjacent to the Tobruk pool and the hockey grounds, the new Tennis Centre will provide world class courts on which local youngsters will be able to gain experience.

September will also feature the Queensland age championships and an international pro tournament. Tennis lovers are lining up for ticket sales in August and there will be a real rush to get seats.
