Community Planning

I spent 5 hours last Saturday talking to residents at Brinsmead and Earlville Shopping Centres about what sort of region they want in the next 20 years. They thought about what they would like to see, hear and feel when they look around in the future, what's missing now, what we want more of and what they don't want to see. Protecting the hill slopes is important to many people , as is improved public transport. They want good facilities for their kids and to keep the laid back lifestyle we all love. People were mostly positive about the cultural precinct, although they don't like the design; and they are also keen to see Sugarworld up and running as soon as possible. A significant number of people said that they don't go into the city very often so they want to keep and improve their local parks and local facilities like bikeways and footpaths. If you want to have your say online go to: http://www.getinvolved.qld.gov.au/your-say. We want to hear from as many people as possible.
