Opening of Cruise Ship Terminal

I encourage people to check out the wonderful $11 million upgrade of the heritage-listed wharf shed number 3 that opened on 26 November as the new Cruise Ship Terminal.Local architects have done a great job of retaining historic features like the old sliding doors, the ceiling beams and corrugated iron walls.

Ports North advise that the next stage in 2011 will be to renovate the adjacent wharf shed for commercial purposes (an aquarium? markets?) and to connect the area by boardwalk to the Esplanade boardwalk north of the Hilton. This will give the public greater access to the wharf area and allow people to see how the proposed museum and the theatres will complement this revitalisation of the waterfront area.

Very interesting historical information is provided, the area is landscaped beautifully and Dennis Nona and Thancoupie have produced stunning sculptures. Check it out.
