Blues Festival, Carnivale, Adventure Festival, Challenge Cairns. . . . Is May The Festival Month?

A perfect weekend for the Blues Festival on 7 May. The organisers are to be commended for their third festival which was enjoyed by many with Eric Bibb, Phil Manning and our own Johno's Blues Band being well received. It looks like May is becoming festival month and I encourage Cairns residents to head south for the Babinda Harvest Festival or north for Carnivale starting at Port Douglas on Friday with 30 free and ticketed events over a 10 day period.

This will be followed by the inaugural Adventure Festival with an outrigger canoe race, the Coral Coast Triathlon and the RRR mountain bike race all finishing on Four Mile Beach on 29 May - and then the Challenge Cairns ultrathon. There will be several thousand participants all up in these events and in the fun runs and swims, all out competing in our stunning locations, keeping healthy and fit, testing themselves and being watched by thousands more local, national and international spectators.
