$340,000 of funds were recently allocated to assist 58 community organisations across the region. The grants covered a wide range of things including purchasing a lawn mower for the Leichhardt Soccer Club, funding coaching for the Douglas Netball Association, providing storage for the Mulgrave Shire Historical Society,helping the Tropical Writers group to publish an anthology of prose and poetry, enabling ARC Disability Services to hold arts workshops for people with a disability, allowing the Men's Shed to buy new tools, purchasing a washing machine for YAPS, erecting sun shades for the Mossman Community Playgroup . . . the list goes on.
