I spent a delightful day in the grounds of the Council Chambers at the Welcoming Babies Ceremony. I was pleased to introduce this event in 2009 to honour and celebrate our babies, and officially welcome all those born in the previous year. There are free events for families - pet handling, information stalls, face painting and entertainment; and every family received a free copy of the Opening Notes CD, a beautiful compilation of local music from the diverse and creative community into which our babies have been born. The event was special this year as both Cr Di Forsyth and I have become first time grandmothers: Elyssa Jade was born to my son James and daughter-in-law Kim and Di's daughter Candy had Tyler Tabone.
