Do Not Call Register

The other day I went into the www.donotcall.gov.au site and finally got around to registering my mobile and home phone with the Australian Media and Communications Association. It was quick and easy to do.

The Do Not Call register has been developed to prevent telemarketing companies from accessing your phone number if you do not wish them to call. If a telemarketer calls a number on the Do Not Call Register, they may be in breach of the Do Not Call Register Act and may face penalties.

Please note, however, that registering your telephone number on the Do Not Call Register will not stop all telemarketing calls to your number. Some organisations operating in the public interest are exempt from prohibition on making telemarketing calls. You can also still receive calls from market researchers.
