SBS gets the smallest share of national viewing and I have been really surprised at the number of people who have approached or emailed me after seeing the final episode of About Women which aired at 8.30pm on Wednesday 30th September. My brother who is here from Darwin for the AFL Masters this week tells me a number of the footie blokes told him that they had watched it so great to see that the series wasn't just seen as something that would appeal to women. Here's a small selection of feedback: • "It made me smile a lot." • "A great inspiration to all women out there and especially to young women . . . . show they CAN DO IT." • "I felt like crying during some parts, even after the show . . . . the messages were very relevant for me at this time of my life too." • "Your life philosophy of making a difference shows out like a beacon." • "You come across as being so down to earth . . . . if this had aired before the election you would not have had any trouble getting across the line." I allowed myself to be trailed for five days by a film crew of three - including one day in Tasmania when I was packing up the contents of the house that my mum had lived in for 60 years - hoping that I might be portrayed as some sort of role model and I am delighted that this has been the result. If you missed the show let me know if you want to join some of us for a repeat at Machans sometime soon. |
