I recently met a couple of owners of businesses which have started up in Cairns in the last 3 months. They are both young, enthusiastic and passionate about making Cairns their home and contributing, not only to the economy, but also to the community. It's a courageous move to start a new business in the economic downturn and I commend these people and urge you to support them. Nick from the Ever After Cafe in Lake St is keen to be involved in the CBD revitalisation project and has lots of ideas as does Kim from Canada who has opened a lolly shop on the Esplanade. We opened the small shop in Cairns mainly for locals and so far people have been great to us in the new shop. We wanted to make a shop that Cairns locals would be proud of especially since it is front and centre on The Esplanade with so many international visitors. We felt a responsibility to do our part in making a good impression of the city." |
