Prepare Now for the Cyclone Season

Whilst we are preparing for Christmas celebrations it's also important to remember that we should be prepared by now for the cyclone season. The Council's website (www.cairns.qld.gov.au/disaster) has lots of information to assist. At the very least, we need to have cleaned up rubbish and possible projectiles from backyards, have checked our cyclone kit for radio, spare batteries, candles, canned food, first aid materials etc, and have contacted our "friends in high places" to ensure a safe place to which we might go if our suburb is subject to flooding or storm surges. The website also provides information about how you can sign up to follow cylone messages using Facebook and Twitter.
