As well as making sure that we delivered on the $159M capital works program, Council increased funding to Tourism Tropical North Queensland to help counteract the large reduction in international tourists, and provided funds of $430,000 to Tourism Port Douglas Daintree to continue their good work.

Council has also outsourced a considerable percentage of its capital works and maintenance program to external contractors. A new economic development fund is attracting proposals to diversify the economy and to support new regional events that will attract visitors to spend time and money in our region (and enable the locals to celebrate of course!).
